This one was recorded live in 1990, just after the release of "Naked Thunder" LP, Gillan's one of the best work. Generally I don't really like Gillan's album, for their weak sound, but this concert is very good. The musicians are not beginners, like Tommy Eyre on keyboards, and ex-Alex Harvey rhythm section, Chris Glen and Ted McKenna. The guitarist is Steve Morris from Ian's previous band: Garth Rockett & the Moonshiners. Very tight band.
A rollicking start with "Gut Reaction", then comes a Purple classic "Demon's Eye". Very good version, Gillan is in top form. Here's another Purple classic, "When a Blind Man Cries", where Eyre keyboard sound is a bit strange, but Morris plays excellent. And here's the early Purple shows' closing number, Little Richard's "Lucille" and the inevitable "Smoke on the Water". Doesn't he bore it?
Recommended to any Purple fans! Good Hard-Rock with some bluesy taste.
