I was loaned the cassette, in the late '80s, by a shipmate who knew that I liked classical music. I knew who Jethro Tull was and had heard of Ian Anderson but I told him I wasn't interested. He said to try it anyway and I did. I was, metaphorically, knocked out of my chair. I listened to it many times before finally returning it. I just couldn't believe that rock music could be made to sound like anything other than loud, discordant noise. Was I wrong!!! I wore out my own cassette, so when I found the cd, I had to have it. I have listened to other groups (The Beatles, The Doors, et. al.) in a symphonic format. Most, I didn't like- they still sounded too rock[y] and not enough symphonic[y]. But this album is, not only a classic, but in a class by itself.

I'm a huge Ian Anderson classical fan. Excellent flutist. His live stuff is far superior. The whole album seems to be in the same key. Kind of lackluster. But I still love his classical works with the London Philharmonic, just look for live recordings.
