Randy Hansen, Manni Von Bohr, and Horst Stachelhaus lay down 10 great Hendrix tracks live in Germany, circa 1992. Just like Jimi, they start the place shaking with Sgt Pepper before getting into familar hits like Foxy Lady, Little Wing, and Red House. A 10-minute version of Who Knows closes out the live set. The style is loose and incredibly like Hendrix, in both sound and attitude. You hear the notes, the slurs, the bends, the wailing, and of course the tremendous feedback being played as if it were an extra instrument. In addition, there are also 3 studio-recorded songs that end the CD on solid footing. Hansen has absolute mastery of his stratocaster, and the band never lets up. If you like how Jimi sounded live, this is definitely a CD for you. I saw Randy perform in Seattle in 1992 or 1993; he tore the roof off! At the time I worked with a relative of his manager, and she gave me this CD after learning I was a Hendrix devotee. 20 years later, I still love the music they captured while playing in Germany. The label name is even cool; it's called Affen Geil, which I believe is German for horny monkey - or something like that.
